Computer Elements for the 80's

چکیده
The keynote panel discussion for the June 1978 Computer Elements Workshop focused on the implications of increased scale of integration in devices for the computer business. Sessions at the workshop, sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society's Technical Committee on Computer Elements, examined trends in memory, LSI design, emerging logic technologies, packaging, and testing. Device designers see a continuing trend to larger scales of integration. Simultaneously, speed-power improvements are forecast. The challenge to the device people is to curtail the costs of designing and testing ever more complex chips. There is a concern that reliability might suffer as the chips become more complex. The increased scale of integration is being exploited rapidly by the designers of terminals, minicomputers, and other microprocessor applications. Of course, high-density semiconductor memory is being exploited widely. Designers of large central processors are less certain of how to exploit the increasing scale of integration. Since the major objective for a central processor is speed, the emphasis is on high-performance devices, possibly using several microprocessors in parallel to achieve high throughput. But since the power of this technique is unproven, CPU designers are exploiting modular gate-array or master-slice techniques in high performance configurations. These modular techniques allow a variety of configurations with modest design and testing costs. Memory trends

Impact of Integration on Straining Modes and Shear-Locking for Plane Stress Finite Elements
Stiffness matrix of the four-node quadrilateral plane stress element is decomposed into normal and shear components. A computer program is developed to obtain the straining modes using adequate and reduced integration. Then a solution for the problem of mixing straining modes is found. Accuracy of the computer program is validated by a closed-form stiffness matrix, derived for the plane rectang...
متن کاملDesign of an S-band Ultra-low-noise Amplifier with Frequency Band Switching Capability
In this paper, an ultra-low-noise amplifier with frequency band switching capability is designed, simulated and fabricated. The two frequency ranges of this amplifier consist of the 2.4 to 2.5 GHz and 3.1 GHz to 3.15 GHz frequency bands. The designed amplifier has a noise figure of less than 1dB, a minimum gain of 23 dB and a VSWR of less than 2 in the whole frequency band. The design process s...
متن کاملNon-Blocking Routers Design Based on West First Routing Algorithm & MZI Switches for Photonic NoC
For the first time, the 4- and 5-port optical routers are designed by using the West First routing algorithm for use in optical network on chip. The use of the WF algorithm has made the designed routers to provide non-blocking routing in photonic network on chip. These routers not only are based on high speed Mach-Zehnder switches(Which have a higher bandwidth and more thermal tolerance than mi...

متن کاملAn Improved Semantic Schema Matching Approach
Schema matching is a critical step in many applications, such as data warehouse loading, Online Analytical Process (OLAP), Data mining, semantic web [2] and schema integration. This task is defined for finding the semantic correspondences between elements of two schemas. Recently, schema matching has found considerable interest in both research and practice. In this paper, we present a new impr...
